Dear Grace Family,
All is well here. Internet service is very sporadic, along with sporadic electricity and water...so the lack of email is due to that. Sometimes, all shuts down in the middle of an email and all is lost. So, type quickly!
Our team is now in three locations. The trekkers left for a four hour vehicle trip this morning, followed by a few hours of trekking. They will show the Jesus video tonight in about three hours, lord willing, then do the same in two more villages the next two nights. The trekkers came to my class with their backpacks on before they departed. The students gave a very moving prayer for them, with great smiles as the trekkers shared their love of the gospel, Christ and souls in Cameroon. They will return in four days with stories to tell. Pray for their safety, as they are going to a rugged (and hot) area, lower in elevation than the seminary. Danae wanted me to tell her parents, "I will be okay." She had a big smile on her face as she headed off with her full pack. When I introduced the team to the class I said, "You Africans have an expression that white people are 'fragile.' Well I am here... (read more below)
to tell you that these white people, Chad, John, Emily, Laura, and Danae are not fragile!"
The orphan team also left today and will spend the remainder of their time in Bemenda, about 6 hours drive away. I think they are looking forward to what God has for them.
The construction team is ahead of schedule. The ceiling and walls are done, with the floor being poured Saturday. We will take on some new projects next week, working on the exterior of the classroom building as well. Philemon Yong is so excited, he is like a kid in a candy store, to have this class for his m.a. students being finished.
My class is going great. There is a good rapport, the 50 students laugh when I am funny and laugh when I am not funny. This is good. There have been precious times of loud "amens" and times of quiet stillness as well, when God is truly speaking to them in a deep way. Each night after dinner we invite one student to join with our team and share their testimony and God's leading in their lives to come to seminary and what they hope to accompplish after graduation. This has been very precious. We then pray for them and give the student several books.
There is also plenty of time to play basketball and soccer with the ever growing population of young people that think white people are funny.
On Saturday, Eric Anderson, Jacob and I will fly via missionary airplane down to Douala. We will attend the church service where Ndzi Jones, the pastor who received the books, is pastor. It is a large church in an urban setting, quite different from here. It will be great to meet God's people there. Lord willing, the three of us will return on Tuesday, then the rest of the team returning on Saturday.
Thank you for your prayers. The Cameroonians are moved to tears that GCC would shower such love upon them. It is very moving to be here, be used of God. Hopefully, others from our body will be able to come in future years, as well as continue to bless this nation through our prayers and gifts.
Looks like the electricity has stayed on , now to hit the send button!
In Christ,
Pastor Krogh
