College/Career – Auditorium, piano side
Todd and Carole VandeGuchte
Scott and Terri Nibbelink
We have had a great time this fall working through the principles in the book, Just Do Something.” This book has been helpful in answering many questions faced by those in college or just beginning a career.   We will be wrapping the study of this book up the month of January and moving into a several week study of our finances, specifically God’s perspective of our finances.  For many of us college has become the beginning of large student loans, debt and the beginning of habits that may or may not be healthy financially.  This study will be fun, interactive and extremely practical!

Foundations – Auditorium, organ side
Tim VandeGuchte
Rich Nymeyer
Foundations Bible Study Hour Class (Young Married’s) provides both a topical study as well as a New Testament study.  Every four to six weeks, we alternate between a book of the New Testament and a topic.  We are starting our New Testament study by going through each of the letters of Paul in a concise format, learning the main thrust of the letter and its key doctrines.  When we complete one letter we change our focus for the next few weeks to a topical study pertinent to newly married couples helping them build a strong foundation for their marriage.  In both study formats we want to see Christ, to know Christ and to walk with Christ expectantly looking for his return.

Real Truth, Real Life – Rm. 112
Steve Raemisch
This fall “real truth, real life” will begin a study on how we grow as Christians. Obviously God has saved us for a purpose – fulfilling this purpose encompasses a lot of components – growth being near the top of that list. We will study such topics as: “What role does the local church play in my growth? What kinds of things do I need to pursue to grow? What does God do in my growth, and what are my responsibilities? How do I grow in my trials? We always take time for questions and participation is highly encouraged! The course is entitled, “Conforming to Christ” – notebooks will be provided.

Ladies Only – Chris Rookus’ Office
Julie Porritt
The class is focusing on developing a thankful spirit and making gratitude a way of life, using Nancy Leigh DeMos' book "Choosing Gratitude: Your Journey to Joy" as our guide.

Homebuilders – Rm. 200
Rock Campbell
“What’s The Difference?” Manhood and Womanhood Defined According to the Bible
The Homebuilders will be studying Biblical roles of men and women, utilizing this DVD series from John Piper.  Topics will include:

  • Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood
  • Complementarity as God’s Design in Marriage
  • Complementarity as God’s Design in Creation
  • Male Leadership in the Church
  • Men and Women in Ministry for the Glory of God

Plan to join us as we grow together, pray together and live out the gospel together!

The Sword and the Trowel – Rm. 201
Chris Haven, Larry Lee
"Changing Hearts, Changing Lives" by Paul David Tripp:
We might be relieved if God placed our sanctification only in the hands of trained professionals, but that is not His plan.  Instead, through the ministry of every part of the body, the whole church will mature in Christ.  This video series by Paul Tripp will be taking us through a practical study of God's design for changing His people.  Each week the video presentation will be supplemented by discussion and prayer as we learn together how to become "people in need of change helping people in need of change."

Living Stones – Rm. 202
Mark Vruggink
Come along with us this fall to journey together with Christian as we study John Bunyan’s classic allegory, “Pilgrim’s Progress”. It graphically represents the Christian life as an adventure in which spiritual growth and the ultimate goal of being conformed to Christ and welcomed into heaven are achieved through a process of ongoing struggle and conflict.

We will encounter interesting characters along the way in our journey toward the Celestial City. As we progress, we will discern between helpful and harmful influences and learn to stay focused on our Lord who “became sin for us” so that we are propelled toward spiritual growth. Charles Spurgeon once related that outside of the Bible, Pilgrim’s Progress was the most important book in his life.

Primetimers Plus – “The Gospel Portrayed in the Life of Christ” - Library
Rob Weaver
It is common to think of Jesus as having died on the cross in our place, but he also lived 33 years before his death.  The life he lived is just as important as the death he died.  Both aspects are vital for the Christian life, for He both lived and died in our place.

We will explore the major events of Christ’s life and ministry such as the birth narrative, his baptism, the temptations, sending out the disciples, the Transfiguration, his death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and return.  Special emphasis will include how the events fit with the Old Testament and the flow of Redemptive History.  If you are looking for a better understanding of Christ as our Substitute and Victor, you are welcome to attend.
